FarmIQ Documents & Knowledge

Upload your farm files and turn expert guides on or off. On Premium, Ask Assistant can use both when it answers.

Key Capabilities

My Documents: Upload PDF, Word, or text files such as soil tests and vet reports
Knowledge Base: Turn expert livestock and crop guides on or off
Ask Assistant: On Premium, answers can use your files, enabled guides, and your farm records
Private to your farm: Uploaded files stay on your farm and are not used to train public models

1. How It Works

Documents and Knowledge teach the assistant about your farm. They need Premium. On Free or Essentials you can still use Ask Assistant for farm records, but it will not read uploaded files or expert packs.

1. You Upload

Add a PDF, Word, or text file, such as a soil report.

2. We Read It

FarmSentry extracts the text and indexes it. Status moves from In queue to Ready.

3. You Ask

Ask Assistant can use your Ready files, the guides you left on, and your farm records.

2. Uploading Documents

Supported Formats

  • PDF (.pdf): Reports, manuals, and many scanned documents
  • Word (.docx): Notes, plans, and letters
  • Text (.txt): Simple notes or exported logs
  • Max size: 20 MB per file

Steps to upload

  1. Open FarmIQ AI in the sidebar.
  2. Open the Documents tab. The page heading is My Documents.
  3. Drop a file onto the upload area, or choose one.
  4. Wait until the status is Ready. You may first see In queue... then Reading your document....

How long does reading take?

Small text files are often ready in under a minute. Larger PDFs can take a few minutes. A scanned PDF with no readable text can fail. If status is Something went wrong, try again or upload a text-based copy.

3. Knowledge Base

The Knowledge tab lists expert livestock and crop guides FarmSentry maintains. The list is the full active set, not only the species or crops on this farm.

Grounded answers

Enabled guides give the assistant trusted references. When it uses them, look for a Sources list on the reply.

Turn off what you do not run

Leave pigs off if you only keep cattle. That keeps answers focused on what you actually raise.

Turning guides on or off

  1. Open FarmIQ AI, then the Knowledge tab. The page heading is Knowledge Base.
  2. Toggle a livestock or crop category on or off.
  3. If a category has more than one guide, expand it and toggle individual packs.

4. Asking with Your Files

Use the Ask Assistant button. It is not a tab. You can ask before you upload anything. On Premium, Ready documents and enabled guides can appear in the answer. On Free or Essentials, the assistant still reads farm records such as tasks and animals.

Example

  • YOUWhat were the recommendations from my last soil test?
  • AIA reply based on your uploaded report, with a Sources list naming the file when it was used.
