FarmIQ - AI Insights
Open FarmIQ AI to see this week's production trends, then ask the assistant or open your documents.
Quick Start Checklist
In This Guide
1. What's on Insights
Insights is the FarmIQ home page. It is a Premium feature. The page heading is FarmIQ, under Intelligence & Analytics.
What you can open
- Insights: Weekly Performance plus cards for Ask the Assistant and Your Documents & Knowledge
- Documents: Upload farm files the assistant can cite. See the FarmIQ Knowledge guide
- Knowledge: Turn expert packs on or off for your crops and livestock
- Ask Assistant: Questions about tasks, animals, costs, or what changed this week
Plans: Insights, Documents, and Knowledge need Premium. On Free or Essentials, those pages show an upgrade prompt. You can still use Ask Assistant to read your farm records. Chat, voice logging, and receipt reading share one monthly AI allowance.
2. Weekly Performance
Weekly Performance compares this calendar week with last week. The week runs Monday to Sunday in your farm's timezone. The date range sits under the card title. A metric only appears if you logged something for it this week or last week.
Metrics tracked
Production
- Milk Production (kg): Milk from goat milk tests and milk production activities
- Egg Production (eggs): Eggs recorded on poultry collection logs
- Weight Checks (animals): How many animals were weighed, not their average weight
- Feeding Events (logs): How many feeding activities were logged, not how much feed was used
Mortality (lower is better)
Deaths from poultry mortality records and mortality activities. Fewer deaths show in green. More deaths show in red. Details also labels this metric (lower is better).
If nothing is logged for this week or last week, the card says No production data logged this week and offers Log Data Now.
3. Reading the numbers
Summary (collapsed)
Compact pills for Milk, Eggs, Mortality, Weight, and Feed:
- Percentage change: Week-over-week change as a whole number (for example +12% or -5%)
- Trend icon: Up, down, or a dash when the change is small
- Color: Green for a good change, red for a concern, gray when the change is under 2%
Details
Tap Details to see full cards. Tap Collapse to return to the pills. Each card shows:
- This week's total with the unit (kg, eggs, deaths, animals, or logs)
- Previous: Last week's total
- Percent change: One decimal place, plus vs last week
- Species chips: Which animal types contributed
- Partial data: Shown when that metric has 3 or 4 days logged this week
How complete the week is
Quality is counted from distinct days logged in the current week for that metric.
5 or more days
The trend is treated as complete. No extra warning appears on the card.
Fewer than 5 days
Details can show Partial data (N days logged) and a note that some metrics have partial data. Keep logging daily so the comparison is fair.
Tip: Changes smaller than 2% are treated as stable and shown in gray. That keeps small day-to-day noise from looking like a trend.
Same numbers in two other places
- Dashboard Production snapshot: The same this-week versus last-week numbers, on Premium
- Weekly reports email: Premium owners can receive a Monday email for the last full week. It only includes changes of 10% or more. Turn it on or off under Settings, Weekly reports
4. Best Practices & Tips
Getting the most from Insights
- Log production every day: Milk, eggs, deaths, weigh-ins, and feeding all feed the weekly card
- Check at the start of the week: Review Weekly Performance early so a drop is still easy to investigate
- Ask the assistant after you look: Use the trend as the question, then confirm against the source record
Common scenarios
Sudden egg drop
Check for heat stress, water supply problems, and feed changes. Walk through your poultry houses to verify conditions. Look for signs of illness or stress.
Milk yield decrease
Review recent feed changes, check for mastitis symptoms, and verify milking equipment. Consider heat stress in the hot season.
Mortality spike
This is urgent. Check for disease symptoms, predator evidence, or environmental hazards. Consider isolating affected animals and contacting a vet.
Partial data or an empty card
The comparison is only as complete as the log. Focus on daily milk, egg, mortality, weigh-in, and feeding records for 1 to 2 weeks so both weeks have something to compare.
Remember: FarmIQ shows you what changed. You know your farm best. Use the trends as prompts to investigate, then apply your knowledge to the cause and the fix.
